  1. Perform blood culture collections (skin preparation, bottle preparation, volumes, order of draw), phlebotomy for blood donation, and assist with collections from pediatric, geriatric patients and vascular lines
  2. Calculate or look up maximum blood volume for high-risk patients such as infants and older adults, and collect newborn metabolic screening (PKU, galactosemia) on filter paper calc
  3. Perform point-of-care testing (glucose, hemoglobin and hematocrit, urine pregnancy, urinalysis) and timed tolerance tests (glucose tolerance, 2-hour postprandial, lactose) calc
  4. Prepare the site for blood alcohol testing, collect specimens for drug screening, and perform or process non-blood collections such as throat, nasal and wound swabs
