How many questions are on the TEAS?
The ATI TEAS 7 has 170 questions, and 150 of them count toward your score. The other 20 are unscored pretest questions mixed into the four sections. You get 209 minutes in total: Reading 45 questions in 55 minutes, Math 38 in 57, Science 50 in 60, and English 37 in 37.

Time per question
English is the tightest section at one minute per question, and it comes last, when you are most tired. Math gives you the most time per item because many questions involve a few steps of working.

The 20 unscored questions
ATI uses pretest questions to try out items for future exams. They are not marked, and they do not count whether you get them right or wrong. Six are in Reading, four in Math, six in Science and four in English.
Since you cannot tell which ones they are, answer every question as if it counts. There is no penalty for guessing, so never leave one blank.

Rules that affect pacing
- Sections are timed separately and taken in a fixed order: Reading, Mathematics, Science, English and Language Usage.
- You can go back to questions within a section, but not to an earlier section once it is closed.
- A 10-minute break is offered after the Mathematics section.
- A calculator is built into the exam; you cannot bring your own.
- Some questions are not standard multiple choice: select-all-that-apply, fill in the answer, click on an image, or put items in order.

You answer 170 questions, but only 150 are scored. The remaining 20 are unscored pretest items.
How long is the TEAS test?
209 minutes of testing time, which is 3 hours and 29 minutes, plus check-in and the optional 10-minute break.
How many science questions are on the TEAS 7?
50 in total, 44 scored: 18 Human Anatomy and Physiology, 9 Biology, 8 Chemistry and 9 Scientific Reasoning.
How many math questions are on the TEAS 7?
38 in total, 34 scored: 18 Numbers and Algebra and 16 Measurement and Data.
